Protecting the Heart of Your Home

The kitchen is the busiest room in any Chelsea home. From spills and crumbs to the constant movement of chairs, a wooden kitchen floor has to endure a lot. While a high-quality lacquer or oil provides excellent protection, the right maintenance routine is essential to keep the wood looking its best for years.

At World’s End Floor Sanding, we not only restore your floors but also provide the guidance you need to maintain them. For an overview of our service costs, visit our prices page.

Daily and Weekly Care

Prevention is the best form of maintenance. Use a soft-bristle broom or a vacuum with a wood-floor setting daily to remove grit and dirt that can act like sandpaper underfoot. For weekly cleaning, use a damp (not dripping wet) mop with a pH-neutral wood floor cleaner. Avoid harsh household chemicals or steam mops, as these can damage the protective finish.

Dealing with Spills and Furniture

In a kitchen, liquid spills are inevitable. The key is to wipe them up immediately to prevent moisture from seeping into the joints. We also strongly recommend using felt pads under all chair legs and tables to prevent deep scratches when furniture is moved. If your floor starts to look dull, it may be time for a professional refresh. Contact us for an assessment.
